Meghan O’Ryan Spieker is outgoing Co-Chair of the Lawyers Club of San Diego’s Human Trafficking Collaborative, a national award-winning strategic initiative that brings together a diverse cross-section of lawyers and community leaders to execute programming and activities to address human trafficking. Previously, she served as co-chair of the Collaborative’s Legal and Community Education subcommittee. Previously, Ms. Spieker practiced as a business litigator for over fifteen years at two major national law firms, Shearman & Sterling and Cooley LLP, representing public companies and their officers and directors in complex commercial litigation, including federal securities fraud class actions. She was appointed to Cooley’s San Diego Pro Bono Committee after demonstrating sustained commitment to pro bono service. Ms. Spieker has been a member of the ABA Section of Litigation’s Human Trafficking Task Force and was instrumental in organizing the American Bar Association’s 2013 Regional Conference on Human Trafficking, hosted at the University of San Diego. In addition to her work in human trafficking, Ms. Spieker serves on the boards of The California Wildlife Officer’s Foundation and the Francis Parker School. She is also President-Elect of Teen Volunteers in Action’s SD3 chapter. She received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and her law degree, cum laude, from Georgetown Law.
